Dying Earth

Home, and ending. The Earth did not die of old age or bad luck. People put weapons in orbit and struck the planet like a tuning fork, year after year, until its deep places cracked and the shield that kept it warm and breathing began to fail. Now what is left of humanity gathers at the edge of the world it ruined, reaching for ships that could never carry everyone. This is where Ayla's thread begins, in the long line for a way out.
